We intervened and helped her family to get Elenita out of government detention, and into the safety of her great aunt's home.

12-year-old Elenita, fled Honduras and spent 63 days in U.S. detention. Every week, she was allowed only ten minutes to talk on the phone with her mother, who was forced to stay in Mexico due to the Remain in Mexico program (MPP).
Ten minutes.
This process wasn’t easy for families. Elenita’s family was even coerced into paying for the plane ticket flying her to her great aunt.
And while this was an uphill battle, we stood strong.
