We have had the privilege of getting to know thousands of families through this work. With your help, we've been able to aid them in navigating countless challenging situations.
While trapped in U.S. government detention, Marco was suffering from the aftermath of a traumatic brain injury. Despite his pleas for help, ICE refused to provide him the medical attention he desperately needed. We intervened and got Marco the critical medical attention he needed. We secured a dream team of attorneys to ensure his release, and reconnected him with his family. Marco is now in a safe and secure home.
Baby Omar* was born an American citizen. It was illegal to hold him in immigration custody. Yet he and his family were forcibly held for over 72 hours. We fought for them and got them out.
He was never a security threat. He did not deserve to be treated as one when he came here requesting asylum. Miguelito was detained for 100 days after requesting asylum. We fought hard against the system. Today, we take solace knowing Miguelito can grow up in a loving home.
We use pseudonyms and likenesses of similar children, not portraits. We avidly protect the identities of the children and families we assist.

— Tania*, Mother detained in Dilley
When I will be released I want to go back to my school and tell my friends and teachers that there is organization who cares for kids in detention. I want to tell them that I had ability to help you, and so you could help more families, especially families that can't afford basic stuff in the store.

At Each Step Home, They have created an organization that defends those who have little, if any, ability to defend themselves. They coordinate desperately needed advocacy, communication, and resource development.
