Sofi and her grandmother fled Mexico after being targeted by drug cartels. They sought asylum and protection in the United States, instead they were separated and placed in U.S. government detention. We fought for Sofi and her grandmother and were able to reunite them after being separated for 47 days.

The government imposed nearly insurmountable demands on Sofi’s family to prove they could care for her, but we helped them to meet each one from arranging rides to get fingerprinted to helping them to find and fund an apartment. Just as we were preparing to send Sofi’s mom to visit her, our efforts were rewarded, and Sofi was released to the eager and loving arms of her family.
