With your support, we provided Marco, a 5-year-old suffering from the aftermath of a traumatic brain injury, with the critical medical attention he needed.
Early in 2020, you helped us fight for the release of Marco* and his family. He’s 5 years old and was detained after suffering a skull fracture. He was nearly deported. Thousands of you spoke up. After working tirelessly to protect him and his family, we got him out of detention and connected him with the medical care he needed.

With our help, he was represented by an incredible team of lawyers; Amy Maldonado from the Law Office of Amy Maldonado; Sarah Gillman from Rapid Defense Network; and attorneys from Greenberg Taurig. They negotiated his release from detention and continued to fight for him. They recently won him a key appeal in the 9th circuit and arranged for his father to be returned after he was deported in January. And now the powerhouses at Immigrant Defenders Law Center will represent the family in their asylum claim.
Thanks to our network, Marco has access to the Pediatric Neurology department at UCLA, and he was awarded student of the month at his kindergarten in November 2020.
